9 Photos to Inspire You to Visit Iceland
We traveled to Iceland in April, and we were amazed at how beautiful this country is. Starting in Reykjavik, we headed south making stops in Vik and Hofn for some of the most scenic views imaginable. Here are 9 of our favorite photos to inspire you to visit Iceland.
Photos to Inspire You to Visit Iceland
The Blue Lagoon
The Blue Lagoon is nothing short of magical. While it isn’t a natural lagoon, it is a highlight you shouldn’t skip. Book your tickets in advance and spend a morning, afternoon, evening, or a full day relaxing at this unique spa.
Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach
One of many black sand beaches in Iceland, Reynisfjara Beach is also one of the most dangerous. Keep your eyes on the ocean and be aware of sneaker waves. These waves crash hard and high up the shore and can easily sweep you out to sea. Exercise caution and don’t turn your back to the waves.
Skogafoss
Skogafoss is one of the largest waterfalls in Iceland. Unlike Seljalandsfoss nearby, Skogafoss is free to visit!
How to Take Better Travel Photos
Dyrholaey Peninsula
The Dyrholaey Peninsula has SO much to see. Some highlights include: the arch with the hole, the endless black sand beach, and the Dyrholaey Lighthouse. You might spot some puffins here too.
The Northern Lights in Keflavik
Seeing the Northern Lights in Iceland really depends on what time of year you visit. Even then, a sighting is not guaranteed. While we traveled to a couple more remote locations in hopes of catching a glimpse of the Northern Lights, we didn’t see them until our last night in Iceland. We chased the lights around the parking lot of our hotel right by the airport!
Road Trip Views on the Way to Hofn
The hours fly by road tripping through Iceland. There’s always something to look at.
Jokusarlon Glacier Lagoon
While viewing the glacier lagoon, you might also see the cutest little seals floating along. Hike to the upper viewpoint to get a different perspective and to avoid the crowds below.
Diamond Beach
After visiting the glacier lagoon, walk over to Diamond Beach to see all the ice pieces of various sizes on the shore.
